Required Graphics

                         REQUIRED GRAPHICS

Map(s) - Where can it happen? Find an area in the world where this type of natural disaster is common and find data showing that it is a problem. Data can be temperature, ocean temperatures, rainfall, map location, etc…

Map Types:

Sources "Drought - Limpopo River Awareness Kit." Drought - Limpopo River Awareness Kit. N.p., n.d. Web. 09 Jan. 2013.

Graph – Create an original graph (hand-drawn or on Excel) showing the changes of a specific area (city, country or region) over time (10-100 years), this data should support or refute your theory.

What will this tell you about the natural disaster?

  • This data tell us the South Africa had the low rainfall of between 1970-2006, because the data show the rainfall is negative.

  Type of Graph(s):

Evidence - You will need to find at least 2 pieces of Supporting Data, and a minimum of 1 graphic evidence.

1. Supporting Data:
  • This data is supports my theory, because it show that the Africa is very dry, the rainfall most are -4 in Africa.

Sources:"The Water Cycle : Feature Articles." The Water Cycle : Feature Articles. N.p., n.d. Web. 09 Jan. 2013.

2. Supporting Data:

This is supports my theory, because the data show the red area with High temperature , so there have low rainfall and it is  very dry.

Sources: "FESA Micro-insurance: Satellite Indices Break-through." Welcome to FarmD. N.p., n.d. Web. 10 Jan. 2013.

3. Graphic Data:

  • This graph support my theory, The Sahel is location in Africa , between Africa south of the Sahara and central Sudan in Grasslands. This graph show us 1970 to 2010 the rainfall of the Sahel most are negative.

EVIDENCE RESEARCH DATA                   TOPIC
Drought
You are trying to see if this type of disaster is more common now than in years past and what could be happening. You will need to find data from the past to compare to data from today to see if there are changes. All work must be done in your OWN words. Be sure to update your Reference page regularly.

Research Steps:

  1. Location: Find out where this natural disaster happens most (1-2 similar locations).

Location(s):

  • South Africa

Why does it happen more in these locations?

  • Because the South Africa is around Sahara desert so there is drought and people cut too much trees and burned plant and crop too much on the land,  let the land become desert that  increased drought.

Sources: "South Africa." Wikipedia. Wikimedia Foundation, 01 Mar. 2013. Web. 03 Jan. 2013.

2 Data: Find out what kind of data determines the problem (temperature, rainfall, plate boundaries, etc..).

Type of Data:

What will this tell you about the natural disaster?

  • This data tell us the South Africa had the low rainfall of between 1970-2006, because the data show the rainfall is negative.

2 Historical Data: Look for this type of historical data (temperature, rainfall, number of occurrences, etc…).

Website Names:

  • "SCIELO - Scientific Electronic Library Online." SciELO - Scientific Electronic Library Online. N.p., n.d. Web. 02 Jan. 2013

3.Data Analysis: Analyze the data and look for trends.

What does the data tell us?

  • The South Africa is very drought, the rainfall of South Africa is negative.

Are there more natural disasters of this type than usual? Is it the same?

  • Yes, the South Africa is very drought, so that’s very to affect the Forest Fire.

What could be causing this?

  • The Forest is causing by drought, and humans, high temperature.

Date of the Forest fire happened on South Africa.

Effects: What are the effects of this type of disaster? (Required Effects: economic, environmental and social)

Environmental:
  • The land with not water and can not grow up anything, over time the land will become desert.

  • People and animal will move to other land that with water, Because no food no water.

Economic:

  • The farmer can not crop, because the land is too dry and not water and rain to irrigation, so the farmer can not make money.

  • The food is not enough so the food become expensive.
